Orbitz for Business

Orbitz Provides Yale Travelers Value

In fiscal year 2012, and again in fiscal year 13, Yale Travel Management conducted two independent exercises to evaluate whether Orbitz for Business (OFB) was providing the best value for University travelers. P-Card data revealed over 9,000 tickets purchased in fiscal year 2012, and from these data we identified Yale’s seven most popular ticket sources: OFB (71%), AA.com (8%), Orbitz (7%), Expedia (5%), Delta.com (4%), United.com (3%), and Travelocity (2%).

Orbitz Offers Lowest Fares

We then identified Yale’s most popular routes, both domestic and international, both refundable and nonrefundable tickets, and booked test tickets simultaneously on all seven websites to ensure fair and accurate comparison. Due to the fluid dynamics of airline pricing and the daily inventory adjustments, air fares are a constant moving target and not an exact science to predict. While no one booking source can claim to offer the lowest fares every time, our results told us in fiscal year 2012, and again in fiscal year 2013 when we repeated the study, that OFB was consistently among the best in offering the lowest, or equal to the lowest, air fares.

We are confident that you will enjoy using OFB and kindly ask that you call an OFB agent or let us know in advance of your purchase elsewhere if you cannot find the best fare when using OFB. Thank you for your continued support!
